Local Brewery Lets You Craft Your Own Beer

If you've always been curious about making your own beer, but aren't invested enough to get yourself a home set-up, here's the next best thing.

Windy Brew, located in Strykersville (about 10 miles away from East Aurora), allows customers to literally design their own custom brew.

According to the Buffalo News:

"The custom brew center is a hands-on, no-experience-necessary deal. Customers pick their brew from a diverse list of 26 beers, look over the recipe and instruction sheet and get to work – that means measuring out hops, malts and grains and lots of boiling, mashing and stirring. Bill [the owner] is there to help every step of the way."

You want to plan ahead, though. The Buffalo News article states the custom brew sessions are in very high-demand, and by appointment only -- with appointments filling up four to six weeks in advance.

The cost is approximately $130-$160 (depending on ingredients) and will yield 10 gallons of craft beer to take home.
