Here's another reason to consider learning CPR: An Alden mom rescued her 6-year-old daughter from drowning in their backyard pool on Sunday evening.

According to Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard, first aid crews responded to a call for a girl pulled out of a pool unresponsive and not breathing.

The child’s mother, who was trained in CPR, administered approximately a dozen rescue breaths and was able to save her daughter, who began to breath again on her own and regained consciousness.

The young girl was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo for precautionary reasons.
