Leave it to Madonna: Even her family vacation photos make news!

Vacationing with her four kids in Gstaad, Switzerland, the always-controversial singer posted a picture on Instagram on Jan. 4 showing her son Rocco holding a bottle of liquor. The problem? Rocco, her son by director Guy Ritchie, is just 13 years old. He's posing with a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin flanked by a couple of other pals -- who also look too young to drink legally (even in Switzerland, where the legal drinking age for spirits is 18).

"The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014" Madge captioned the photo. Maybe she shouldn't have said "bring it," because what the Internet brought was a whole lot of negative reaction. Many commenters assumed that Madonna was not only condoning but celebrating underage drinking.

"You're a terrible mother if you think that a kid posing with a drink is cute or funny," one such comment stated. "Booz [sic] is not something to make jokes about. Period!" another wrote.

Other fans rushed to the star's defense. "I took a pic of my then 2 year old niece with a wine bottle in her hands..posted it on Facebook...everybody found it funny & NO ONE reacted like some of you guys did!!!" said one comment.

The fray was so loud that even Madonna herself was forced to chime in. "No one was drinking we were just having fun!" she wrote on another Instagram pic. "Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!"

What do you think, PopCrushers? Is the photo fine or did Madonna cross the line (again)? Let us know in the comments below!
