First Lady Michelle Obama opened the doors of the White House to military families yesterday for the first look at its' 2011 Christmas decorations.  The First Lady paid tribute to our servicemen and women and showcased this year's holiday theme "Shine, Give, Share."

The White House visitors included gold star families (relatives of armed forces personnel who died in service) as well as blue star families (those with loved ones still serving).

After thanking military families, Mrs. Obama joined children in the State Dining Room for crafts, including Christmas cookie decorating.

The theme, 'Shine, Give, Share,' runs throught the White House with a 400-pound White House Gingerbread House and 37 Christmas trees.
