The U.S. Coast Guard is reporting that two military aircraft collided off the North Shore Oahu in Hawaii on Thursday night.

A total of 12 people were on board the two aircraft, and searchers so far searchers have spotted a fire and debris field, as well as an empty life raft.

The initial calls starting coming in around 11:00P.M. and witnesses say that they heard a loud boom over the water, followed by a big flare in the sky.

Initial calls came in around 11 p.m. in the waters off Kahaone Loop in Waialua.

Emergency Medical Services, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Honolulu Fire Department all responded to the area.
