Mom Shoots Intruder 5 Times In Face, Saves Children
I give this mother credit. For protecting her children and for being a responsible gun owner. When an intruder broke into her home on Friday, he found himself starring down the barrel of a gun.
The intruder, Paul Slater tried knocking on the door and Mrs. Herman, who had two young children in the house, did not answer the door. After the man began furiously ringing the doorbell, she began getting scared and took her two 9-year old twins, who had off from school that day, to a crawl space in the house. Slater ran to his car to grab a crow bar which he used to enter the home.
After Slater ransacked the home of the Herman’s in Loganville, Ga., which about 30 miles east of Atlanta, he opened the crawl space in which Mrs. Herman and her kids were in and found a gun pointed at his head. Without hesitating, Slater was shot six times, five in the face by a .38 revolver. According to FOX News, Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said, “The guy’s face down, crying,” and "the woman told him to stay down or she’d shoot again.”
Herman took her kids and ran to her neighbors house as Slater fled the scene trying to drive (I know what you’re thinking—how do you drive after getting shot in the face 5 times? Actually—how do you even live after that to begin with?). He was caught by police after crashing into the nearby woods.
Slater was transported to the nearest hospital and is expected to live. The Herman family is reportedly unharmed.
Donnie Herman, the woman’s husband said:
My wife is a hero. She protected her kids. She did what she was supposed to do as a responsible, prepared gun owner. Her life is saved, and her kids’ life saved, and that’s all I’d like to say.”
