Morgan Quits “America’s Got Talent”

British import Piers Morgan has decided to give up his judging duties on America’s Got Talent to devote full time to his CNN interview program. His decision comes after six years on the talent competition, and just one season of doing both shows.

Morgan announced the news on Twitter, tweeting his 1.4 million followers:

“I’m leaving America’s Got Talent after six wonderful years. Turned out that juggling’s harder than it looks, so I’m going to focus on CNN”

2011 hasn’t been kind to Morgan. In addition to dealing with the strain of two TV shows, he faced criticism in England for his possible role in the press phone hacking scandal. Although Morgan has denied involvement, and no real evidence has been connected to him, an incident this summer involving Sir Paul McCartney and his ex-wife Heather Mills made Morgan look as if he was aware of the invasions of privacy, but chose to do nothing. Although there were some suggestions at the time that Morgan voluntarily go before Parliament to discuss the matter, he was never caled to testify, and has kept his silence on the controversy.

America’s Got Talent, minus Morgan, returns in 2012.
