Matt Lauer, the long-time anchor of NBC's Today show, has been fired by the network due to a very serious allegation about what has been described as "inappropriate workplace behavior." According to USA Today, notice of the termination of the 20-year veteran was sent out in a memo from NBC News president Andrew Lack, which was read at the beginning of the Today show this morning. In the memo, Lack stated:

On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company's standards. As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment...

Lauer is the latest in a long line of sexual misconduct allegations against a number of high-profile celebrities. While this is the first complaint about Lauer in his career, Lack's statement goes on to say that there may be reason to believe that this was not an isolated incident.
