It was announced on Wednesday that NBC Nightly News anchor, Brian Williams, will return to the network after his six-month suspension ends in August.

The whole controversy erupted in February when it was brought to the network and  media's attention that Brian Williams wrongly reported an encounter that occurred during a 2003 Iraq War mission.

Shortly after this story broke, Brian Williams' credibility came to forefront and forced the NBC network to conduct an internal fact-checking investigation. Brian was then suspended without pay for six months, and banned from speaking publicly.

According to CNN News, Brian Williams and NBC have finally reached an agreement for him to return to work at the end of August, but he will not return to the anchor chair.

In the meantime, Lester Holt (who has been anchoring the "Nightly News" since Williams' suspension) will take over as the permanent anchor. Lester's new assignment makes him the first black solo anchor a weekday nightly news cast.

An announcement regarding Brian Williams' new position with NBC is expected sometime today. He is currently under a five-year $50-million contract.
