The Buffalo Sabres are set to kick off their preseason home opener tonight, and new security measures will be in place at the First Niagara Center.

Walk-through metal detectors have been placed at all of the entrances, which means that you will have to put of your personal belongings into a container as you pass through the detector.

Mike Gilbert from the Buffalo Sabres said that this is an NHL mandated security measure that all 30 teams have to follow. The goal is to move away from the hand-held wands, which will help to tighten security and speed up the screening process.
