When things get old and unappealing, people tend to just throw these items out with no second thought.

However, there may be another purpose for these items, such as how these loyal listeners of Delilah used old items for new reasons.

I made a garden fence out of old pitchforks and shovels that I found at thrift stores and garage sales. I love finding inexpensive treasures and thinking of creative and unusual ways to use them on my farm. My listeners have a lot of good ideas for recycling old treasures too...

My husband knows I like wind chimes. He found some old aluminum baseball bats at the salvage yard. And he hung them from a tree in our backyard. He also entered them in our county fair and won a blue ribbon! Linda

Old bottles as a garden border. Looks wonderful! Suzanne

I recently picked up a sand box off someone's driveway because it had a free sign on it. I put it on top of this really unattractive spot behind my house and I'm using it for my compost pile. DJ

Repurpose an old chandelier (thrift store find) into a solar light chandelier: Remove the wiring; add a little paint and solar lights. Love to use it when we go camping. And we have another hanging from a tree on the side patio. Beverly

An old mail box for a bird house, an old metal headboard for the bean vines. Nancy

My mom had a row of old toilets along the back fence as planters. Growing in them? Jonquils of course. Neptune

I love garden art. I sometimes pick up other people's "trash" to turn into my treasures. The latest: a rattan rocking chair turned trellis for a bunch of Morning Glory. Leah
