NFL owners voted on Monday to suspend the league's local TV blackout policy for the 2015 season.

It's a policy that was instituted in the early 1970's when teams relied primarily on ticket sales to generate revenue. The rules stated that if a game wasn't sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff, it would be blacked out in the local TV markets.

The blackout policy will be re-evaluated after the 2015 season.
