WIVB reports this morning that a Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a serious morning car crash.
The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. Monday, on Lake Road near Ransomville Road in the Town of Porter both the east and westbound lanes of traffic were closed earlier today as the Niagara County Sheriff's Office investigated the accident. Rte. 18 (Lake Road) has been re-opened as of 8:15am.
Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour announced this afternoon that Deputy Allen Gerhardt is in critical condition at ECMC. Deputy Gerhardt was responding to assist another Deputy on a DWI traffic stop.
