Whenever I take Derek to hike the Gorge trails in Niagara Falls I am always saying to myself WHY are there not more people hiking here? YES Mom's you can easily take these trails safely with your kids ages 3 and up if you don't do anything dumb :) - Put this in your 2016 calendar for sure!

You can do short versions - parking in the Aquarium lot and walking the overpass to an easy trail that goes right under the Whirlpool bridge is one. Takes like 2 hours max a ton of great views and pack a lunch to have right under the bridge! Another easy trail is the one that starts on the opposite end at Artpark in Lewiston. You can take the upper trail past the Lewiston Queenston bridge or the lower trail that hugs the river where all the fisherman go. You at the sign you see below, right near the Power Vista, it takes again about 2 hours with great views. The Devils Hole trail by Niagara University is a bit longer you take it past Whirlpool state park (or take stairs up there if you are tired) along the river until you see the Whirlpool bridge (see cover photo) then back - takes 3 hours I would say.

Now if you are REALLY good you can do what Me Derek and my Dad have done and go all the way from Artpark past the Whirlpool bridge! They 'lower the water' after Nov 1 so you can ONLY do this after that date (did you know they lower the Niagara River?!). Now this will take you 5 hours and I suggest parking 1 car at the Aquarium and another car at Artpark so you don't have to go both ways! No matter how you do it a Niagara Gorge hike is a must do for 2016!
