An investigation is underway after an off-duty Buffalo Police Officer was administered Narcan after allegedly overdosing on heroin last week.

News sources are reporting that 26-year-old Michael Moffett was revised with the opiate reversal drug at a home in the 500 block of Dorrance Avenue, and then taken to the hospital.

BPA president Kevin Kennedy said that patrol officers like Moffett are supposed to be randomly drug tested once a year, but the city's drug testing program hasn't existed for more than two years.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said on Wednesday that this could all change by next week, and an ongoing internal affairs investigation is underway.
