One Direction's members are slowly spreading their own creative wings as they ease into their hiatus. Harry Styles turned heads when four newly-registered songs credited him as co-writer and performer in late December, it's Liam Payne's turn now: The singer shared a song he wrote "for fun" over this past weekend. Despite the stadium rock sound the band's favored on Four and Made In the A.M., it seems former member Zayn Malik's not the only one with R&B and hip-hop leanings.

Effectively noting this same fact, a producer by the name of Eminik busted out his laptop to give Directioners a Ziam gift on Saturday (January 16), mixing Liam's effort with a pitched-up version of Zayn's leaked "No Type" cover. Given, as Eminik writes on Twitter, that he "had to change the pitch of Zayn's voice so it could be in the same key as Liam's," the outcome is pretty satisfying. Thoughts?

There's another reason to cling to hopes of a Zayn-Liam collaboration: The 1D member's comments when he was recently cornered interviewed in an elevator bank by paparazzi. When asked if he'd want Zayn back for a reunion he told tabloid X17 Online, "Of course. I love Zayn, he's great." Liam also gave the perfect answer to a ridiculous "would you replace Zayn?," joking, "there's enough people, we don't need any more group members."

In a January cover story, Malik told L’Uomo Vogue that certain former group mates might be dodging his calls, but he and Liam are still cool: "The truth is I haven’t spoken to any of the boys at all really, I spoke to Liam a bit and that’s just the way it is. I did try to reach out to a couple of people and they didn’t get back to me, but then publicly, when they were asked questions about it, said that they’d spoken to me and that we were friends. But that’s not the case, I tried to reach out and be their friend but they haven’t even replied to any of my calls or texts.”
