Every year, my sister-in-law and I coordinate a holiday photo shoot with our kids. Two girls and three boys, ranging in age from 2 to (almost) 10 make for unpredictable outcomes.

Not true.

A predictable outcome for us typically looks like this 2010 example:

Today was no better. In fact, it was probably the worst yet.

It doesn't phase us. We actually look forward to it. As my sister-in-law said, "We're going to be sad when everyone's good."

Because when that happens, they'll be old. And so will we. Even the little one isn't that little anymore, and the rest wear pants that look impossibly, comically tall -- yet fit them perfectly.

I love this collection of photos, and the days we took them, more than any other Christmas memory.
