It looks like looking for a place to park in Tonawanda just got easier.

Due to the lack of snow and the lack of snow in the long-range forecast for Western New York, the Town of Tonawanda announced that they are lifting their Winter Overnight parking ban early.

Normally the parking ban goes until April 1st, but town officials stated that the chance of heavy snow is slim so they have lifted the ban as of Tuesday night.

Most towns in Western New York and the City of Buffalo instuct a parking ban during the winter months so that snow plows can easliy make it down the street to clear the roads.

Looking ahead to the long range forecast, while snow is expected this weekend, we are not expected to see a massive amount of snow for the rest of the winter. So far this winter, Western New York, and most of New York State and the Northeast have been well below the average snowfall amounts.

While Tonawanda is the first town in Western New York to lift the ban, just know the overnight parking ban remains in place for most of the other towns and cities in the 716.
