Paula Abdul Denies Substance Abuse Issues

Paula Abdul says she may be goofy, but she's never been drunk.  Addressing speculation about her sometimes quizzical behavior during her eight season run on Fox's "American Idol," Abdul, who is set to launch a new show this week, told CBS News' "Sunday Morning," quote, "I've never had a drinking problem, even though I've been in this business for quite some time."  She added, "I've never been drunk in my life!  I don't use recreational drugs - but I am goofy."  Abdul insisted that even though fellow judge Simon Cowell frequently mocked her on "Idol," producers knew there was no substance abuse on her part.  The 48-year-old former pop star also defended her intelligence, saying that audiences don't give her enough credit for, quote, "having a brain."  Abdul's new dance reality competition, "Live To Dance" premieres tonight on CBS at 8:00 pm Eastern.
