WIVB reports Amherst Police are warning residents to keep their cars locked, after a string of vehicle break-ins overnight.

The police responded to several complaints of vehicles being rummaged through between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

WIVB reports, "Thieves are looking for easy access through an unlocked entry point," according to police.  "Do not leave garage door openers in a vehicle parked in your driveway or on the street. This could give thieves access into your garage or home."

If you have any information, or if you've experienced a similar break-in, call the Amherst Police at 716-689-1311.
