As if 45 cents wasn't enough, now we'll have to pay 46 cents!  What an outrage.

Starting January 27, the price of a first-class stamp will increase one cent to 46 cents. International mailings will also increase in price.

The financial crunch is largely due to a law passed in 2006 in which Congress ordered the Postal Service to put money aside for future retiree benefits.

Lets think about this for a minute.  To send a piece of mail from here to across the state or to California, its still only 46 cents.  That's pretty cheap.  If it has to get mailed, what are the alternatives?

But the reason for why they are raising the price stinks.  Its great if companies can put money aside for retirees, but lets face it, there are not many companies doing that.  Its called a 401K.  A lot of these pension plans were put into place when the economy and the country was in a different place.  Now I'm not saying forget the people who, in their time, have earned it, but maybe someone should take a look at the policy going forward.
