‘Pretty Little Liars’ Reveals ‘A’ Identity, Plus One More Major Plot Twist
If you saw Pretty Little Liars' Season 5 finale on March 24, chances are you're still processing everything that happened. (And if you didn't, beware: spoilers ahead!) Following one of craziest episodes yet, executive producer Marlene King gave more details on the identity of "A."
As viewers now know, "A" is someone named Charles. The episode hinted that he might be Jason DiLaurentis' twin brother (!!!), which opens up a whole new line of questioning. (By the way, Reddit already connected his identity with Mona's mysterious notecard.) And, of course, there's the matter of the Liars, who are prisoners in some twisted alternate reality with Mona herself, who apparently didn't die.
"We will start next season right were we left off, with the girls trapped and they don't get out immediately," King told E! News. "When we end the finale, it's already late April-early May … but in 10 episodes, the Liars will be graduating. They will be putting this episode of Pretty Little Liars to bed."
King also addressed the time hop, which she announced during her Reddit AMA in June 2014.
"I did say we're going to do a four-year time jump and we will honor that before the end of season six," King said to E! News. "It's really exciting, I can't wait to see the girls after they come back from college. It's going to be awesome."
Naturally, fans are already anticipating some exciting plot lines now that "A" has (kind of) been unmasked. King hinted that the Liars will be piecing together all of the clues in Season 6.
"It's just a really exciting season of answers and closure. As we go, it's connecting these big dots and I want the fans to figure it out on their own," she said. "Many are getting very, very close to figuring out the how and the why of it all. I've seen some very close theories online lately."
Most importantly: Will we ever truly see the face of "A"?
"Yes, you will see Charles' face," King promised. "The girls will come face-to-face with 'A' before the end of the summer and 'A' will be completely unmasked."
Season 6 of Pretty Little Liars will premiere this summer. Until then, we recommend you check out the #CharlesIsA hashtag for the latest conspiracy theories.
