A priest in Little Ferry, N.J. has been arrested after he pointed a gun at an 8-year-old boy and  threatened to shoot him. The reason? The boy roots for the Dallas Cowboys, while the priest cheers for the New York Giants.

The incident occurred last month shortly before the teams opened the season playing each other.

Father Kevin Carter, 54, of St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church called the boy into a rectory room shortly before mass, had him stand against a wall and then pointed a musket, which he threatened to shoot at the boy.

A witness called the police a few weeks later. Authorities then arrested Carter last Friday. So, what spurred Carter's actions.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said, "The young boy was apparently a fan of a particular football team, the priest was not. So perhaps we have indication it started out as that."

Word is Carter likes the Giants, while the boy, who was not hurt in the incident, likes the Cowboys.

Carter has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm.
