Already suffering severe cardiovascular issues, country singer Randy Travis has now suffered a stroke as well.

Travis had emergency heart surgery on Monday (July 8) after being hospitalized on Sunday (July 7) for viral cardiomyopathy, an illness that weakens the heart muscles. He was said to be in critical condition.

However, reports issued early today (July 10) gave hope that the 54-year-old crooner was on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, by evening Travis was rushed into yet another surgery to relieve pressure on his brain caused by a stroke.

According to Travis' doctors, who have kept fans and press abreast of his condition via press releases and even video conference, the stroke was a complication of his congestive heart failure. Travis was in surgery as of 9:30PM ET on July 10 and currently remains in critical condition.

Our thoughts are with Travis, his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.
