Robin Williams Enters Rehab to Continue Sobriety

Robin Williams has entered rehab in order to maintain his sobriety.

The prolific actor, 62, is receiving treatment at Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Minnesota. And though he hasn’t relapsed, he hopes that time in the rehab facility will strengthen his sobriety.

“After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud,” the comedian’s rep told several different entertainment news sites, including ABC News.

Williams has been outspoken about his battles with drug and alcohol abuse in the past. In 1982, he kicked his cocaine habit cold turkey after the tragic death of his good friend John Belushi and learning he was going to be a first-time father. In 2006, he entered rehab for alcohol addiction after 20 years of sobriety.

A source revealed to ABC that Williams’ current stint in treatment has been “long planned” and that he has actually completed the majority of it and will go home soon.

We wish him the best in treatment.
