Say what you will about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the people/groups that are in it already or should be; this year's class proves to be heavy and loud. To be considered for the Rock Hall, all artists must have at least 25 years since their first official recording.

Nine of the 19 nominees this year are first timers on the ballot.

Those nine include: Rage Against the Machine, Judas Priest, Radiohead, Eurythmics, Dire Straits, Kate Bush, the Moody Blues, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

The remaining ten remaining nominees are: Bon Jovi, MC5, The Cars, Depeche Mode, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, The Meters, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Link Wray and the Zombies.

Ballots will be sent to the international voting body of 900 artists, historians and members of the music industry, while there will also be a fan vote that factors into the final outcome as well. Fans can place votes on who they would like to see in at the Rock Hall website. Voting starts today (Oct. 5) and continues through 11:59PM ET on Dec. 5.

The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans ballot” that will be tallied in with the other ballots. Voting is capped at one vote per day and fans will need to log in with a Facebook or email account to vote.

The 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame draft class will be announced in December, with the 2018 ceremony taking place at Public Auditorium in Cleveland on April 14, 2018.
