The National Toy Hall of Fame is awfully fond of these toys.

The rubber duck and chess have been inducted into the hall of fame.

The rubber duck has a history of making bath time so much fun and is a stalwart in tubs around the world as a means of keeping distracting kids while their parents get down to the business of cleaning them.

Chess' induction is probably overdue, considering the game is centuries old.

Christopher Bensch, an official at The Strong Museum, which is home to the hall of fame, said the two inductees represent polar opposites in style:

The two inductees...are fantastic examples of the two extremes in the world of play."

Both toys beat out a strong field of competitors in this year's class. Among the ones that fell short are bubbles, Clue, little green Army men, the Magic 8 Ball, My Little Pony, Nerf toys, Pac-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A panel of nearly two dozen experts voted on the choices and, thus, now have to answer to all the irate Bronies out there.
