Don’t look now, but the Buffalo Sabres are riding a hot streak.

Buffalo traveled to Brooklyn and erased a one goal deficit after 40 minutes with third period goals by Matt Moulson and Sam Reinhart to defeat the New York Islanders, 2-1 for their third win in four games.

Linus Ullmark stopped 29 of 30 New York shots for his second consecutive win and in doing so made a strong case to get more starts than Chad Johnson while Robin Lehner remains injured.

Buffalo has had trouble scoring goals at even strength this season—coming into Brooklyn with 10 of their 25 goals for the season coming on the power play.  However, both tallies came with teams at full strength in a game that didn’t feature a penalty to either team.

Trailing 1-0 after two, Zegmus Girgensons broke free down the left side and put a pass across the crease that Moulson was able to bang home for his fourth of the season at 6:20.  Reinhart’s game-winner came on perfect pass on an odd man rush from David Legwand.

The Sabres are off all the way until Thursday when they host Tampa Bay. It’s already the third time they’ll play the Lightning this season, losing the first 4-1 and 2-1.
