Last week, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that Sherlock Holmes 3 will begin filming this year, with Guy Ritchie returning to direct the long-developing sequel. Lo and behold today’s update that a new screenwriter has been tapped to rewrite the script — because when Robert Downey Jr. says something is happening, he enters into a binding verbal contract with the universe and essentially wills his thoughts into existence.

Deadline reports that James Coyne has been hired to rewrite the Sherlock Holmes 3 screenplay based on the original draft by Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce. The third installment in Guy Ritchie’s series was initially announced back in 2011, with Pearce attached before Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows even hit theaters.

Coyne previously wrote the screenplay for Treasure Island, which landed on the Black List, and is also developing a screenplay based on the Avengelyne comic book series by Deadpool scribe Rob Liefeld.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will reprise their roles in Sherlock Holmes 3 as Sherlock and Watson, respectively, with Guy Ritchie returning to helm. It’s been five years since the previous installment, which grossed $186.8 million domestically and $545.4 million worldwide despite mixed reviews.

Plot details for the sequel are unknown, and Warner Bros. has yet to set an official release date for the sequel. Ritchie’s next project is Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, a potential franchise-starter starring Charlie Hunnam that was recently pushed back to March 24, 2017.
