I am a proud granddaughter of a World War II soldier.

I am a proud cousin-in-law to a three-tour veteran (Iraq and Afghanistan).

While we will spend some time with family and friends this weekend, shop for bargains and enjoy time with the grill, it's important we remember there are many who are away from their loved ones.

Some, forever.

We salute all servicemen and -women, past and present, and especially those who never made it home.
