Consider this your official warning -- New York State Troopers are cracking down on speeders during "Speed Week."

The annual program is underway through August 11th, as troopers try to slow down speeders on the Thruway with a goal to keep the roadways safer for everyone.

New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D'Amico released a statement...

“Our goal during this campaign and our year round enforcement effort is to get dangerous drivers off New York’s roads. Obeying the speed limit and driving defensively will reduce the number of fatal accidents and increase safety for everyone on the highway.”

More than 10,000 speeding tickets and more than 22,000 overall tickets were handed out during the "Speed Week" campaign in 2014.
