There were a lot of comments in the work place today about the storms we had last night! According to our meteorologist Mike Randall from Channel 7, we experienced cloud to cloud lightning and rainfall amounts up to a half inch.

The Southern tier always seems to pick up a little more rain. That was the case today when five state employees working around the Thruway overpass over Cattaraugus Creek suddenly found themselves in a bit of trouble.

The creek started to rise quickly from all the water run off. Fortunately the Erie County Sheriff’s department helicopter rescued all of the workers!

Here's five places in Western New York you would not want to be around when the water starts to rise!
