All season long the Buffalo Sabres and the Arizona Coyotes have been neck and neck at the bottom of the NHL standings.  The only question to be answered was which of the two will end up at the bottom of the barrel at the end of the season.  Wednesday night's match-up between the two teams provided a pretty good indication.

The Coyotes scored a pair of power play goals while the Sabres went 0 for 4 with the man advantage as the Coyotes easily beat the Sabres 4-1.  Those two power play goals came in the first period and essentially the game was over.  The Sabres just had no answers.

The thing that's most concerning is that the Sabres' so-called stars were nowhere to be found.  Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo, Reinhart drew blanks - no goals, no assists against a last-place team.

The only player to score against the Coyotes was Jordan Nolan.  It's just his third goal of the season and his first since November 22nd.

So the Sabres reward for such a putrid effort?  Last place in the NHL.  How can the players and the organization not be embarrassed by that?

If the Sabres end up in the basement at the end of the season that'll be the third time in the last five seasons.  That's just appalling for a professional sports organization.

Just one more game to go in the six-game home stand.  The Sabres have rewarded the fans with just one victory in the five games they've played so far.  The close it out Friday night against Montreal.
