Starting today, you'll get a little less at Subway -- a little less salt that is.  Subway is joining the nationwide effort to cut back on the amount of salt in the food we eat.

USA Today  reports beginning today, all "Fresh Fit" subs at Subway's U-S locations will have 28-percent less sodium.  Other Subway sandwiches will have 15-percent less salt.  That means a basic six-inch Fresh Fit sub that used to have more than a thousand milligrams of sodium will have just over 700.  A six-inch ham sandwich that had more than 12-hundred milligrams will have a little over 800.  Excess sodium has been known to increase a person's risk of developing heart disease.
