One thing I like to do every Summer is go camping.  Unfortunately, with the life schedule of 2 kids and work, it's hard to get to the great outdoors.  Fortunately, I am able to get all the fun of camping without worrying about where the bathroom will be by just doing it in my backyard!

If you are looking for something easy to do this summer that will have your kids doing back-flips, go camping in the backyard.  All you need is a yard and a tent!  If you don't have a tent, you can borrow one, or purchase one knowing that you will get use out of it at least once a year.  It's like a dining room set, only cheaper!

Once you get the tent set up, the kids go crazy.  They look at it like it's another house and they won't want to leave the tent for 2 days.  Everything is just more fun in the tent! Read a book, play a video game, play with toys - the tent brings it up a notch in the kid's minds.

The only other thing you need to pay attention to is the weather.  In this case, I chose two nights where I knew it wasn't going to rain and had a special night with each kid. Fortunately, I squeezed it in when I did because now there is a major thunderstorm hitting the area, so camping wouldn't be so much fun.

I chronicled the event with some pictures, I hope you enjoy them.  I left out the ones where I struggle putting the tent up.  No one needs to see that!
