Early detection for many diseases or sicknesses can be extremely beneficial in most cases.

For these breast cancer survivors, they push for others to get a check-up at the doctors and to keep up with how your body feels for any changes that may need to have attention brought to.

I am a 16 year survivor and had I not been on top of my game I would have died from breast cancer. I was 37 with two small children. I had called my doctor and told her I felt a lump (twice) and she wanted to wait till my exam. When I went for my exam she forgot I had talked to her, did my exam and said my breast tissue felt normal. I reminded her about the lump and she still thought it felt normal...I thought it felt like a rock about the size of an M&M. I told her I wanted a mammogram and there began my journey. You see, breast cancer is treatable if found early and it is up to us to speak about it enough to make it common place. A dear friend of mine was diagnosed 5 years after me and I asked her how she found it and she told me she found it because of me. Karen

I'm an 8 year survivor. I was only 29 when I was diagnosed. I found God during this difficult time. I couldn't have made it without His love. I had four small children and a very unsupportive husband. I left him on my second chemo treatment. I'm a stronger woman because of cancer. I went back to college and am now a clinical leader of an urgent care unit. I put all four of my kids through school. Keep your faith always! Cynthia

I was diagnosed in July of 2004 at the age of 45, and was the poster child of what to do right, eat well, exercise, etc., before the diagnosis. It was aggressive but caught early. Mammograms are recommended for women over 50, yet there were many women in their 30s in my support group. Please don't wait. All waiting does is make it harder to treat if it is cancerous and not every lump is. But you can't make that call. I pray for those going through this right now. Stay strong! Susan
