A fire broke out at the Evans Banks at 4979 Transit Road in Depew on Sunday evening, and investigators are calling it suspicious.According the authorities, the fire started around 6:00PM and quickly spread to the second floor of the building, but firefighters were able to get things under control within a matter of 15 minutes. Luckily no one was in the building at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The money kept inside the bank was not burned since the safe is equipped to withstand a fire for up to five hours. However, structural and internal damages are estimated at around 500-thousand-dollars.

Employees are temporarily being reassigned to the Evan Bank Branch at Main and North Forest in Williamsville.
