Earlier this summer, Trainwreck star Amy Schumer tweeted photos of her partying with newfound BFF Jennifer Lawrence in The Hamptons. Now, it seems like Schumer and Lawrence are more than just party pals, they’re future co-stars. Lawrence revealed the new friends are currently writing a script together that they plan to star in.

Recently, Chris Pratt and Chris Evans visited children’s hospitals in costume as their superhero characters, followed by Johnny Depp dressing as Jack Sparrow and doing the same. And now the cast of Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters movie have been inspired to use their fame for good, visiting the kids at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Sequels, like evolution, are inevitable. Like genetically-modified dinosaurs, they cannot be stopped. When Jurassic World becomes the third highest-grossing movie of all time (not this year, not this decade; ever) you could bet your dino DNA that Universal was going to make another one. And now it’s official: an as-yet untitled Jurassic World sequel is coming to theater on June 22, 2018.

Chris Pratt, now potentially Hollywood’s biggest star after Jurassic World became the fastest film ever to gross $400 million, has a history of making kids happy. Earlier this year, he and fellow Marvel-ite Chris Evans appeared, in character as Star-Lord and Captain America, at children’s hospitals in Boston and Seattle delivering toys and cheering up kids and parents alike. Hot off the success of Jurassic World, Pratt was back at it again this weekend, visiting Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and while there he showed off some of his raptor training skills he’s becoming well-known for.

Here’s how crazy this weekend is: Pixar’s Inside Out had the biggest opening for an original, non-sequel of all time...and it still came in second to Jurassic World’s second weekend. There’s literally nothing to ashamed of here. Sure, it may be the first time a Pixar movie hasn't opened in first place, but the only reason it didn’t open in first place is because it was dueling 2015’s greatest juggernaut. These two are worthy opponents and both are victors.

That’s the message of Jurassic World, where greedy theme-park executives hoping to spike attendance engineer the “Indominus Rex,” a genetically-modified dinosaur that immediately turns on its creators and runs amok. Designed as a cautionary tale about the dangers of building a meaner, badder monster purely for the sake of profits, Jurassic World works equally well as a cautionary tale about doing the same thing in movies. All of the rationalizations provided by Jurassic World’s employees — “Consumers want them bigger, louder, more teeth.” “Somebody’s gotta make sure this company has a future!” — could have been taken directly out of the mouths of the studio executives who approved this gene splice of a reboot and a sequel. Their creation — the Indominus or the movie, there’s basically no difference — is as advertised; huge, mean, and visually striking. But this experiment is not without consequences.
