At the Golden Globes on Sunday night, both Jenna Bush and Michael Keaton made the embarrassing faux pas of conflating new releases Hidden Figures and Fences into the single title Hidden Fences. It’s an easy enough mistake to make — when there are a whopping two movies featuring black ensembles in theaters at the same time, who can expect anyone to keep them straight, least of all people whose one job revolves around the ability to keep them straight? It was a real foot-in-mouth moment for both celebrities, reflective of the minimal attention that white audiences pay to film championing black performers and creators.

Little in America went the way people expected in Election 2016, and anyone watching Stephen Colbert’s live 2016 Showtime special can certainly attest to that. The mood was one of shock, far more than laughter, but leave it to Colbert to still get audiences on their feet with a rousing, sober (barely) assessment of the world going forward.

Stephen Colbert Predicts the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Ending
Stephen Colbert may be the wildly successful host of a popular late night talk show on a major television network, but that doesn’t change who he really is: a huge nerd. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson said of Colbert, “I have never met a bigger Tolkien geek in my life.” The Late Show host appeared in The Desolation of Smaug and hosted a Hobbit panel at Comic-Con. But his geek cred is not limited to Middle Earth. Last night, Colbert delivered an impassioned prediction of how Star Wars: The Force Awakens will end, and the funniest thing is, he wasn’t joking.

Everyone from Jeb Bush to Elon Musk and Amy Schumer will fill out the ranks, with musical guests on deck as well.

Stephen Colbert takes issues with a lot of things on 'The Colbert Report' -- old people making new friends, the Second Amendment, and graphics that aren't blatantly American enough. The funnyman is also permanently on edge when it comes to the possibility that Hillary Clinton will run for president and her constant name-dropping, especially as it litters her new book, 'Hard Choices.' It's just egregious! How can she possibly have so many friends? And when does she find the time to hang out with all of them?

You're welcome, nation!
