I grew up in a little town in northern New Jersey called Park Ridge. It's not even really a town -- it's a borough, which basically means it's really small. My graduating class from Park Ridge High School was 78 people, and the entire school only had a total of 500 students in grades 7-12. I knew everyone in my class by name and went to elementary school with half of them. When I was a kid, we never locked our doors because not a lot happens in Park Ridge. I lived there until I was 15, when my family moved to Raleigh.
