While every season is tick season, we will see a much larger population this spring and summer due to weather conditions making them hungry and very active.
It's happening again this Summer. This is kind of scary to read and there's currently not a cure for this just yet. It's called the Powassan virus. You'll feel like you've caught the flu. The virus, which is found has been found in deer ticks that also carry Lyme disease, attacks your nervous system and causes brain swelling and long-term neurological problems...
We're all spending a lot more time outside now, and certainly have more skin showing. This summer especially, we should all be extra cautious when it comes to our (and our pets') exposure to ticks and other disease-carrying bugs.
Since we had such a mild WNY winter, more ticks were able to survive...
