Like The X-Files before it, FOX’s Prison Break revival wouldn’t prove half so fun without returning cast, and now another two names have been added to roll call. That’s right, Robert Knepper will return as Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell, alongside Rockmund Dunbar as Benjamin Miles “C-Note” Franklin.

We are in a strange era of television with networks reviving beloved shows like The X-Files and, uh, Full House, and developing sequel TV shows for the kind of movies you never really thought needed a sequel — like Training Day and Limitless (though the latter seems to be doing okay). The latest movie to get its own baffling TV follow-up is Cruel Intentions, the 1999 thriller that weirdly spawned a few direct-to-video sequels already.

The X-Files is famous for keeping its own secrets under wraps, let alone the government's, but did you know creator Chris Carter first dreamed up Mulder and Scully after learning over three million Americans claim to have been abducted by aliens? Or that The X-Files practically invented the mix of standalone and mythology episodes? Well, that didn’t take long! Just days after rumors broke that FOX was ready to greenlight an official X-Files revival with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the truth is officially out there. Mulder and Scully will return for a limited X-Files run on FOX, but what other details can we uncover?

The moderate success of FOX’s 24 return helped fuel speculation that The X-Files could similarly prove a prime candidate for limited series, and according to rumor, a Mulder and Scully reunion is closer than ever. FOX is reportedly preparing to greenlight a new X-Files series, albeit with one major limitation.

Lucky as we were to get a second season of NBC's 'Hannibal' for its moderate ratings, doubts began to creep early on as opposing projects seemed to pull away more prominent guest stars like Gillian Anderson of 'The X-Files' and Raul Esparza of 'Law & Order.' While we wait for 'Hannibal' season 2's likely 2014 debut, however, it seems both stars will return in at least some capacity.
