The College Mindset List: What Do Freshmen Know?
Imagine a world where Pokemon has always existed, Amazon was always a retail shopping choice, and Bill Clinton's official title has been "Hillary Clinton's husband."
That's what the mindset of a typical student entering college this fall is like.
Each year since 1998, Beloit College puts out "The College Mindset List," a list of facts that outlines what the world perspective is like for traditional-aged college students.
Here are some of our favorites from the list:
- They are the last class to be born in the 1900s, the last of the Millennials -- enter next year, on cue, Generation Z!
- Amazon has always invited consumers to follow the arrow from A to Z.
- They have always been searching for Pokemon.
- Dora the Explorer and her pet monkey Boots helped to set them on the course of discovery.
- By the time they entered school, laptops were outselling desktops.
- Whatever the subject, there’s always been a blog for it.
- Justin Timberlake has always been a solo act.
- In their lifetimes, Blackberry has gone from being a wild fruit to being a communications device to becoming a wild fruit again.
- Bill Clinton has always been Hillary Clinton’s aging husband.
