If eating healthy is important to you and your family, eating fish may be on your list. Fish does seem to be the wonder food. It's high in protein, low in fat and the varieties are endless. Should you buy farmed, wild or should you just get your pole out and go catch it yourself?  Here's  a list off what to eat and what not to eat.  When it comes to seafood, things always seems to change.

Before you head out to the nearest fish store you may want to keep this list in your head or in your purse. I'm surprised to hear about he Asian Carp. The flying or jumping fish has been making quite a name for itself lately. The Carp threatens out great lakes food chain, I guess there is always a bigger fish in the sea or on land. (smile)

1. Imported Catfish

90% of the catfish that's imported into the U.S.A comes from Vietnam. Antibiotics that are banned here in the states are used in Vietnam. Tyr sticking with domestic catfish. or you can try Asian Carp which has a similar flavor.

2. Caviar

The caviar that comes from wild caught  Beluga and sturgeon may be over fished. It also takes the much longer to repopulate.  Think twice before you pick up the caviar. Try farmed Caviar instead.

3. American EEL

Yellow And Silver Eel is on the list because it can be highly contaminated with PCBs. I'm sorry this is on the list,  it's one of my favotites when I go for sushi. I guess I'll live life on the edge so I will just order two pieces instead of four.  The Atlantic or Pacific caught squid is a safer choice.

4.  Imported Shrimp

Imported shrimp have a bad reputation.  Imported shrimp have been know to have contaminants such as rat hair, insect pieces, antibiotics and chemical residue. Uuggg, I can only imagine what else comes in a shipment. Eat domestic shrimp that has been properly inspect and more than likely comes from the gulf of Mexico.  If you ever go to Mississippi, you must eat the shrimp.
