I'm certainly not going to cram my opinion down your throat on ANYTHING, let alone on this particular "issue".

I will say, however,  I honestly don't care if you want to marry a steering wheel, have a relationship with your hairdryer, or get the number of the first talking paper clip you meet.  Love who you love.

At any rate, you know by now what an enthusiastic Golden Girls fan I am.  When I stumble across a random weekend marathon on TVLand, my plans are solidified for the day.  I've always loved them, as I've always felt they were ahead of their time.  In the late '80s and early '90s, not many shows were tackling gay marriage, HIV/AIDS, or senior relationships.  I've always respected Susan Harris for her progressive humor.

In 1989, the following episode addressed gay marriage...more than 20 years before any of the other sitcoms even thought about it.  If 82-year-old Sophia Petrillo is cool with it....shouldn't we just go ahead and say Love is Love?

On a related note, if you've wondered what that red "equal" sign is about that's been popping up in your Facebook and Twitter feed, it's a brainchild of the Human Rights Campaign, asking friends of the gay community to show their support of equal marriage rights.  Those who have changed their profile picture are showing their support as this debate continues to wage on.
