It was midnight last night and fans finally got to see the big-screen debut of The Hunger Games.

Some local theaters were reportedly sold out for the early Friday morning showings of the movie. Fans seemed to think the movie struck a good balance between being in-depth, surprising and accessible enough for first-timers.

The movie ticket website Fandango has already crowned The Hunger Games as the top-selling franchise opener of all time. Some 2,500 showtimes that sold out in advance nationwide.
