Sometimes, I just get sent on these terrible assignments.  They're awful.  Terrible even.

(Note the dripping sarcasm)

I was invited to the sneak preview media lunch for the grand re-opening of the Thunder Falls Buffet inside the Seneca Niagara Casino.  My coworker, Dale Mussen from our sister station WYRK, and I converged on this thing like it was our last meal (it was, after all, the day before the Mayan calendar runs out....)

Let me tell you - this isn't your typical casino buffet!  In addition to (what seems like) miles of delicious choices, they provide gluten free, vegetarian, and restricted diet options.

The Seneca Nation invested $8.5 million in this new feature, and for this self-proclaimed foodie, it was money well spent!

There's a hearth-fired pizza section (I had the Thai Chicken pizza...to die for).  A lengthy and colorful salad bar.  An amazing Mediterranean section with anything from beef souvlaki (heaven for this Greek gal) to tandori chicken with couscous (my personal favorite).  A pasta station where you can create your own plate, with options like fresh goat cheese, white wine, your choice of pasta, grilled vegetables...and it's all prepared to order, while you watch.  Can't get much more customized and fresh selections than that!

But wait, it's not over.

Head to the Asian section for lightly fried General Tsao's chicken, freshly made won ton soup, delicious pot stickers, eggrolls, chicken-  shrimp- or beef-fried rice, and everything in between.

And then, we hit the "grill".  This is comfort food with the volume turned up.  Carving stations with turkey and beef, corn bread stuffing, creamed corn with bacon (yes, bacon), Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes that'll make you wanna smack yo' mama....sorry, got carried away there.  Lets just say, it was AWESOME.

Of course, the dessert offerings were as tantalizing as anything.  From peanut butter mouse to tirimisu, from red velvet cake (YESSSSS!) to soft serve ice cream, from apple pie to delicious mini cupcakes.  You better pack elastic pants.

Overall, yeah, I hated it.

(There's that dripping sarcasm again)

The Thunder Falls buffet is open NOW.  Seriously...go.
