Have you been to the grocery store recently and noticed that the price of eggs has skyrocketed? Well here's why...

A bird flu breakout has killed chickens at two hundred farms in the Midwest, and the crisis is causing great concern to the Kreher Farms in Newstead, which is the  largest egg producer in Western New York.

The bird flu is not considered hazardous to humans or the eggs, but can kill any chickens that contract the disease.

So far the two million chickens at the Kreher Farms are healthy, but only essential employees are allowed on the farm so that no one carries the bird flu onto the property.

Kreher Farms sells around one million eggs to our local grocery stores everyday, including Tops, Wegmans and Dash's.
