Fun Fact - Kids love Halloween.  What's not to love about dressing up and collecting free candy?? It is my favorite holiday and I am a 39 year old man.  Don't judge.

What I never thought about are the kids who have legit food allergies.  I mean they get to dress up and collect candy, they just can't do anything with it.  That's where the Teal Pumpkin Project stepped in with a solution.

Founded in 2014, the Teal Pumpkin Project was launched as an international campaign by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE).  It's goal is to provide an alternative for kids with food allergies to still be able to enjoy the trick-or-treat experience in a positive way.

All you have to do to support the cause is buy a teal pumpkin (or paint one), and offer some non-food treats for Halloween such as small toys, glow sticks, etc.  You can still offer candy to other kids, but this is a great way to include everyone.

I think this is a great idea, and something I plan on participating in this year.  Let's be inclusive to all kids in WNY!  Here is a little more info on this great project.
