Hundreds Of Tickets Issued During Travel Ban In New York

Hundreds of tickets were issued over Saturday and Sunday in Western New York for people who violated the driving ban across the area.

Buffalo Mayor Bryon Brown announced that over 160 tickets were issued over the past 24 hours in the city limits because drivers were violating the driving ban that was in place during the Winter Storm this weekend.

The travel ban remains in place at the time of this writing. The Mayor said that the ban will allow snow removal equipment to be out in the area to clear the roads.

During her press conference, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that over 300 tickets were issued to drivers along the I-90 because they were driving on the thruway during the ban. Many of those drivers were truckers who were trying to drive through the area during the ban.

There is some good news. The Travel Ban has been lifted as of 3:30 Sunday afternoon for many towns north of the City of Buffalo. The lake effect snow is expected to remain south of the city of Buffalo and officials believe now is the time to lift the ban for some of the Northtowns.

Officials did say they will re-evaluate the travel ban at 7 pm on Sunday Night to see if the ban should be lifted or kept in place heading into Monday.
